In the Beginning

When I was a young girl at just 16 years old, I decided pretty quickly that conventional schooling just wasn’t for me and so I told my parents that I wanted to finish my schooling at the end of that school year.
And what a relief that was! My parents were wonderful about it and very supportive, agreeing to my request but only on the basis that I was to find a job pretty soon afterwards in order to start developing myself, or learn a course in a trade that I enjoyed.
It very quickly came to me that my absolute love for fashion and makeup was what I wanted to pursue!
I clearly remember, looking through my younger brother’s Star Wars book collection, only to admire the makeup design of each of the characters! And I would think to myself how amazing it would be to be a make-up artist on the set of a big budget film!! And I still do!
I even sought the guidance of my art teachers at my school before I had left, to see how they viewed my new direction and new choice of career, and they all completely agreed! So it was decided!
Now that I look back, maybe all those days at school when I was constantly being asked to leave the class and go to the school bathrooms to wash off my mascara and blush, oh and of course, remove all my nail polish, maybe that’s exactly what brought my attention to the beauty (and the value) of makeup!
Little did any of my teachers know at the time, that I was always still carrying my makeup in my bag with me so I could always just reapply it afterwards! Probably a good thing that I kept that little piece of information to myself.
I always knew that I wanted to grow to be a part of something unique, creative and glamorous. And until now, that has never changed.
So when the time was right, I enrolled into my initial makeup and beauty course which had a length of 6 months.
During that time, I applied for and was accepted into a Beauty Therapy Apprenticeship, in an established and successful Sydney salon.
This Apprenticeship was to go for no less than 4 interesting but intense years, where I learned the practical skills involved in everything from waxing, to tinting, to facials, manicures, pedicures and even massage! Oh and of course, my very main love, makeup!
Once I completed my Apprenticeship,  I successfully obtained a position within one of Australia’s most amazing day spas in the Whitsunday Islands! So I packed my bags and off I went in my little car, armed with skills I had gained from my time in my Apprenticeship, and a whole heap of excitement for my adventures ahead! And let me tell you, my time on the Islands and the experience I gained there, didn’t disappoint!
As time moved on, I continued to work for some of the leading brands in makeup and skincare within large department stores, David Jones and Myer.
My love for make-up and fashion and all things gorgeous has never ever faded.  I currently have many beauty and makeup consultations at night times and over the weekends and I find myself constantly being asked for makeup advice and skincare tips, which has recently had me thinking!!
“Why don’t I create a blog?!?”
So here I am!
And here YOU are too!
I know you will enjoy my little blogs in beauty, makeup, fashion (and even a little art and travel) as much as I have creating them!
I will also prepare a number of Vlogs on fun and interesting ‘How to….’ topics and I will post these on my YouTube channel (Link is on the side of this page).
Oh, and please don’t forget, I would love to hear from you too if you have special requests or any questions, so please contact me anytime through this page.
And by the way, you know I’m always up for a new and exciting challenge!

Yours in makeup and fashion,
BloggaBling xx
